 A.S.I.S.T: Community Outreach Team
Lighthouse employees have become so involved in the community that we have formed an events committee to help organize, manage and track participation outside of the workplace. This committee is called A.S.I.S.T. which stands for Active Society Involvement Support Team. The team consists of entry-level employees to top management and we pride ourselves in providing financial education opportunities, volunteers, and financial resources to the community. The committee plays a large role in the success of the external programs outlined in this portion of the Web site, but it is also responsible for the many initiatives managed internally, two of which are described below.
Casual Day for Charity
One day each week Lighthouse employees can come to work dressed casually if they will donate a dollar to charity. Each employee is also able to nominate the charity of their choice. Then, at the end of each month, the A.S.I.S.T. members select one of the charities to receive the funds collected during that month. Lighthouse then matches these funds and writes a check to the charity.
Holiday Angel Tree Tags
During the winter holidays, Lighthouse employees provide hundreds of local foster children with gifts. Angel tags describing the foster children and what gifts they are wishing for are placed around the office and employees "adopt" a child by taking the tags and purchasing gifts for the child they have selected. Participation by employees has increased each year and we are now reaching twice as many children as we did the first year we participated.
