Lighthouse Credit Foundation, Inc. (LCF) is a not-for-profit credit-counseling agency, assisting consumers in need since its inception in July of 2000. Lighthouse was designed to ease financial worry by offering credit counseling and debt management services provided by its certified credit counselors. LCF also supports initiatives for adults that encourage, develop and sustain economic self-reliance, and youth programs that emphasize the fundamentals of economics, the importance of savings and the basics of personal financial management as well as school-to-work efforts and work experiences. LCF's mission is to support the efforts of community-based organizations to implement these initiatives at the neighborhood and national levels, as well as to design and deliver its own initiatives.
LCF's mission statement is: A not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing financial counseling, education, and assistance to those with unmet needs or limited resources. Our vision is to S.E.R.V.E. which means providing the best in service, energy, reliability, value and efficiency to our clients.
LCF has identified a great need for financial education in not only our local community, but throughout the nation. However, LCF was particularly interested in local issues. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, 12.8% of families with children were below poverty level in Pinellas County, Florida and the American Bankruptcy Institute reported that Florida ranks 29th in bankruptcies. Although Lighthouse Credit Foundation's office is in Largo, Florida, it services clients both locally and throughout the country. LCF currently assists over 48,000 clients with its debt management program and helps hundreds of clients not currently enrolled in this program by allowing them access to our free counseling services. Furthermore, LCF offers credit counseling seminars and workshops to local schools, churches, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA and Boys and Girl Scouts. LCF credit counseling goals include changes in spending and saving habits, reduction of debt and improvement in financial decision-making abilities. We hope to help our clients end the cycle of financial abuse and achieve a better quality of life. LCF has strived to offer beneficial services and education to those that need our assistance. Going forward, LCF will continually evaluate the needs of not only our local community, but our clients as well.
