LOCAL BUSINESS LEADS MONEY MANAGEMENT COURSE FOR HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS
LARGO, Fla.- (March 4, 2004)- Lighthouse Credit Foundation (LCF) established both an internal and external community relations campaign this year with the theme "Education Is Core in 2004". As part of this year-long campaign Lighthouse Credit Foundation volunteers will be conducting a series of finance classes at Northeast High School (NEHI) in St. Petersburg located at 5500 16th Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33703 beginning Wednesday March 10, 2004.
LCF volunteers will be visiting teacher Debbie Fischer's Financial Operations classes taught mainly to 10th graders. The curriculum for the classes is meant to assist students with the DebtGuard Money Management Certification Program. Students who successfully complete the program receive a certificate of completion at the end of the two week period if they successfully pass the online tests which are available at the Education Center page of the Lighthouse Credit Foundation website - www.lighthousecredit.org.
The volunteers of Lighthouse Credit are no stranger to the students at Northeast High School, playing a pivotal role in launching the new branch of the Pinellas County Teachers Credit Union called the Viking Branch, run entirely by high school teens enrolled in NEHI's Center of Finance program. Lighthouse Credit volunteers served as mentors for the students who were part of the inaugural management team for the credit union which opened last July.
