LIGHTHOUSE CREDIT FOUNDATION DONATES 10,000 BOOKS TO A GIFT FOR TEACHING OF PINELLAS COUNTY

LARGO, Fla.- (January 20, 2006)- Lighthouse Credit Foundation announces the donation of 10,000 books to A Gift for Teaching of Pinellas (AGFTP), with a total of more than 120,000 books donated in 2005.

A Gift For Teaching of Pinellas is a non-profit organization that provides free classroom supplies for Pinellas County teachers. It operates as a store for teachers to shop once-a-month for a variety of classroom supplies.

According to Alice Carter, AGFTP president, teachers spend approximately $500 to $1,000 of their own money on basic classroom supplies.

“Due to an increase in budget cuts less money is allocated for classroom supplies,” Carter said. “We are always looking for partners to donate items around the holidays and the beginning of the school year.”

Lighthouse Credit Foundation has partnered with SeashellBooks.com and the Kiwanis club to provide 10,000 gently-used books. Additionally, Lighthouse provided 10,000 pencils and $300 worth of crayons, which AGFTP needs for teachers to provide to students for basic classroom use.

At no cost, teachers can select a certain number of items during each shopping trip, depending on the items available for distribution on a particular day.

“Lighthouse Credit Foundation strongly supports children’s literacy and believes in supporting other non-profits in the community, such as A Gift for Teaching of Pinellas,” said Lighthouse Credit Foundation Vice President of Business Relations Darin Ulrich. “In 2006 we will expand our reading program to reach additional preschools and day care centers throughout the Tampa Bay area.”

Lighthouse works within the community and strives to be a resource for those in need. Lighthouse works closely with several community outreach programs to offer assistance through its workforce, and by donating time and money to many deserving organizations such as the YMCA, Pinellas Education Foundation and Boys and Girls Clubs of the Suncoast.

Lighthouse Credit Foundation is located at 8550 Ulmerton Road, Suite 150, Largo, FL 33771.
